I am a candidate for the Bedford School Committee, a mom to three boys, and an active member in the community. As a parent with children in three of the four Bedford schools for many years to come, I will offer a critical, unique, and informed perspective to the School Committee.

My desire to run for School Committee is driven by my passion for ensuring Bedford schools meet the needs of each student – academically and social-emotionally – regardless of where they are in their learning journey. Most importantly, I’m committed to doing what’s right for Bedford students, families, and teachers.

About me

I’m a candidate for the Bedford School Committee and a mom to three active boys ages 4, 7, and 10. As a parent with children in three of the four Bedford schools for many years to come, I will offer a critical, unique, and informed perspective to the School Committee. Additionally, I gained valuable insight into the role and importance of the School Committee when I led a group of approximately 200 Bedford parents as we respectfully advocated for our children to safely return to school full time.

Professionally, I’ve spent the last 13 years working at Biogen, a mission-driven biotech company, in a variety of roles from learning and leadership development to global marketing. I currently hold a director-level position leading operational effectiveness for the US commercial organization. In my spare time, I can be found volunteering in the Bedford schools, coaching on the basketball court and soccer field, riding bikes with my family on the Rail Trail, and gathering with friends at Revolution Hall.

If elected, the School Committee would benefit from my proactive and collaborative nature, my ability to bring people together around a common goal, and my drive to create and implement solutions.

Why I am running

My desire to run for School Committee is driven by my passion for ensuring Bedford schools meet the needs of each student – academically and social-emotionally – regardless of where they are in their learning journey. Most importantly, I’m committed to doing what’s right for Bedford students, families, and teachers.

MY PRIORITIES

As I look to the future, I see many opportunities and challenges that will require collaboration between the administration, teachers, parents, students, and the School Committee. If elected, I will focus my time and efforts in the following areas.

Academic Excellence

It is critical to provide every student with an educational path that builds on their strengths and enables them to overcome challenges. We must offer innovative, varied, and rigorous academic opportunities to prepare every student for what lies ahead.

Social Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health

Today, more than ever, we need to equip our teachers and staff with the tools and resources necessary to identify children that are struggling and get them the help they need. Whether it’s helping children interact with their peers, express emotions, or grapple with the impacts of the pandemic, we must prioritize the overall wellbeing of our children.

Communication & Feedback

As a parent, I feel strongly that streamlining communications and increasing transparency will greatly benefit our school community. In particular, I would advocate for implementing a consistent feedback method that gathers input from parents, teachers, and students regarding what is and what isn’t working.

Diversity & Inclusion

I believe we need to continue to foster an environment where all students feel welcomed, represented, celebrated, and included.

“If elected, I promise to be available and responsive, listen to all perspectives and concerns, and represent the entire school community.”
